Double Cross is a work for Viola and Double bass, in which the range and timbres of the two instruments are brought to a blurry near-unison. Cross-voiced double stops give the work both its name and its uncanny four-voiced sound.
Trataka is an ongoing collaborative composition performed from memory. With a runtime of over 3 hours, the work bases its slow, contemplative gestures on the Trataka practice, in which an individual focuses their unblinking gaze on a candle’s flame. There is no physical score.
Dawn Looming is a hybrid Accoustic and Electronic work. Initial material was performed by live musicians, then arranged, altered and edited in Logic. That process is represented by its session file here. The work is an auditory analogue of “Looming”, an atmospheric illusory phenomenon in which objects appear to float above the horizon.
